My equestrian background began at the age of three when I would accompany my mother to her daily riding lessons. What began as a few lessons on a pony evolved to a lifetime spent competing up and down the East Coast in the Hunter/Jumper circuit. I eventually settled in Florida in 2010 and made the switch to the Dressage arena in 2014. Today I reside in Wellington, Fl with my horses on a small property not far from the Global Dressage Festival.
My interest in nutrition and fitness began in high school. I competed in cross-country running and found what I used to fuel my body directly related to my performance. I went on to run Division I in college and made the move to long-distance running in my 20s. Since then I’ve been an active runner on the local race scene, running every distance from 5k to marathon and even a few triathlons too.
My passion for fitness evolved over time as I found the benefits of strength training for both performance and healthy aging. At age 30 I decided to leave my job as a health and fitness writer and editor and return to school to study Exercise Physiology. I graduated in 2017 from Florida Atlantic University with a Master’s Degree as well as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Training Certification. In 2020 I decided to take my education one step further and completed the Precision Nutrition Certification Program. As an avid learner, I am constantly reading the latest research and continuing to add more degrees and certifications in my field.
Today I help clients untangle the many questions they have about nutrition and exercise and develop a program customized to meet their individual needs.
Education:
EXPERIENCE MATTERS
The internet is flooded with diet programs and large group fitness classes run all hours at your local gym, usually for free or at a very low cost. And while these programs may teach you a tidbit or two, they are designed for the masses, meaning, they are not designed with you in mind. A proper nutrition program for your neighbor may leave you craving more calories while a group fitness class offering a full-body workout won’t take into account your bad knee or aching shoulder. These programs are free for a reason, they don’t offer the quality that personalized coaching provides. If you’re serious about optimizing your health, make the commitment to working with someone who cares about you.
SCIENCE MATTERS
Big box gyms offer competitive rates on personal training packages and young, inexperienced trainers are often quick to recommend their favorite protein shake and pre-workout pump. While body-part workout splits and supplement stacks may work for them (for now), these programs are very rarely steeped in any science. With my advanced education in exercise physiology and work experience with clients of all ages and stages of life, I develop programs based on up-to-date science in the field and suited to meet you where you’re currently at in life. My work in the research department during my graduate degree program taught me invaluable research skills as well as being able to read and understand scientific papers. When you work with me, you will also gain an understanding of how nutrition and exercise work synergistically towards whole body health.
